The Nominating Committee is chaired, on an annual basis by the Immediate Past President of NWONE and often includes as members past board members of NWONE. Other members of the committee are voluntary, but are asked to serve at least a full one year term and to complete a calendar years election cycle.

The work of the Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee:

Develops and implements a rolling strategic plan for organizational succession planning. Presents this plan and activities undertaken/outcomes achieved to the NWONE Board of Directors and at meetings of the membership.

Plans for predictable board vacancies and actively recruits potential candidates to run for these positions.

Assures that potential candidates meet the current needs of NWONE, putting the current and future needs of the organization first and foremost in all recruitment deliberations and decisions.

Selects and contacts strong and appropriate candidates for all board vacancies.

Assures that potential candidates turn in an application for the position for which they have been recruited and meet all of that positions requirements.

Completes a draft ballot for approval by the NWONE Board of Directors within the time frame specified by the bylaws.

Announces all pending elections to the membership.

Assures that voting ballots are mailed out to all voting members in a timely fashion.

Arranges for the counting of ballots, consistent with the NWONE bylaws.

Announces election results through publications to the membership and at meetings of the membership.

Responds to unexpected vacancies by recruiting acceptable and appropriate candidates to fill the vacancies.

Arranges for special elections as needed, consistent with the NWONE bylaws.

Actively recruits to fill Council Chair vacancies and assure the strength of all regional councils.

Leads and actively participates in all discussions relative to NWONE leadership and planning for future leadership.
