Beacon Award & Liaison Program Manager

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses seeks a qualified individual to join the National Office team as coordinator for the association's Beacon Award for Excellence and interorganizational liaison activities. Because of their external visibility, both are high profile initiatives for the association.

This position provides oversight for Beacon Award operations, including application review, awardee selection, reviewer training and evaluation, analysis of trend data and recommendations for program improvement.  The position is also responsible for implementation and dissemination of the Beacon research agenda and results. The award recognizes individual clinical units that distinguish themselves by improving every facet of patient care. It denotes exceptional care through improved outcomes and greater satisfaction for patients and their families. For nurses, the award represents a positive and supportive work environment with greater collaboration between colleagues and leaders, high morale and low turnover (www.aacn.org/beacon).

This position evaluates and recommends action on interorganizational liaison requests. Liaison activities represent the association's response to requests for an official representative to participate in external initiatives. Requests may come from the public and private sectors, including associations, government, industry and others. The coordinator identifies appropriate individuals to represent the association, communicates what is expected, analyzes impact of liaison activities and recommends further action based on the representatives' reports.
