6/8/2011 - Director of Orthopedic and Surgical Care

Skagit Valley Hospital and Regional Clinics located in Mt Vernon, WA is currently seeking a Director of Orthopedic and Surgical Care to join our organization.

Skagit Valley Hospital and Regional Clinics strive to provide the best regional community healthcare in the Northwest, working with our communities to promote health and wellness. We provide a full continuum of care to our community, ranging from outpatient diagnostics and rehabilitation services to surgery and acute care. Our services also include a Family Birth Center, heart and vascular care, orthopedic services, surgery and cancer treatment at our Regional Cancer Care Center. Our Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day and features a Level III trauma unit. The hospital has a total of 137 beds and all rooms are private.

Provides leadership to the Orthopedic and Surgical Care staff.   Responsible and accountable for the direction, organization, performance improvement activities and coordination of the administrative and clinical functions on a 24 hour basis.  Serves as a resource person and role model in the advancement of nursing and professional practice.  Provides support and clinical expertise to the staff in areas of responsibility.  Continually strives to apply evidence based care to maintain care standards on unit.  Responsible for ensuring a comprehensive positive healthcare experience for all patients treated in area of responsibility. 

Requirements:

RN graduate of accredited school of nursing.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, MSN preferred.  Knowledge of fundamentals of nursing practice, advanced knowledge of orthopedic surgical nursing and general principles of hospital management.

Registered nurse with fours years experience in Acute Care nursing, during which time he/she has demonstrated progressive leaderhip abilities.  Prior management experience required.  Washington State RN license and AHA Healthcare Provider CPR required.  ONC certification preferred.
