The Director, Nursing
Informatics develops, and oversees implementation of, strategies for Nursing
Informatics in the hospital and across the organization to ensure care quality,
safety and access goals are met. Articulates the vision for clinical workflow to
ensure success in implementing technology that benefits patient care.
Partners with Information Technology, nursing, medical and operational
leaders to define and lead nursing informatics initiatives in inpatient and
outpatient clinical areas. Serves as an active member of the Nursing Leadership
Team.
Establishes short-term plans for nursing informatics systems and
projects. Creates, and ensures adherence to, project timelines, scope
definitions, and capital and operational budgets. Defines, secures, and
appropriates resources to meet goals related to nursing informatics.
Provides oversight for system acquisition, analysis and design,
implementation, testing and evaluation. Negotiates contracts with hardware and
software vendors.
Facilitates integration of information and knowledge
to support patients, nurses and other providers in decision-making through use
of information structures, processes and technology.
Maintains a broad
knowledge of new technologies and serve as a resource to clinical staff, nursing
leadership and IT department in assessing new technological opportunities that
impact/improve care delivery, enhance patient safety and workflow efficiency.
Masters of Nursing degree with Nursing Informatics focus required.
Current, valid Washington State RN license and certification in Nursing
Informatics required. Five years nursing experience required in an inpatient
setting or comparable position with strong knowledge of nursing workflow,
practice standards and clinical documentation requirements. Also required are:
Demonstrated skills in analytical, strategic and critical thinking, project
management and process redesign, and negotiation and building consensus;
demonstrated talent and passion for innovation and a commitment to Lean thinking
and Lean practice; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and strong
skills in budgeting.
