Project
Description
This project will result in the creation of a virtual mentoring
network and system for minority student nurses and new practicing
nurses, to facilitate their learning and transition into the
professional nursing workforce in WA State, and to works towards an
inclusive professional environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
1) Relationships with stakeholders in WA State and beyond
- Enhance WCN's existing relationships with leaders in
communities, nursing education, nursingorganizations, workforce, WA
State Government and others working on this issue through effective
collaboration to achieve the goal
2) Project Management
- Lead, execute and evaluate the assigned WCN work to accomplish
the goals of this project
o Design the processes of recruiting, training, vetting, and
overseeing minority nurse mentors
o Collaborate with nursing schools to recruit, train, vet, and
oversee minority student nurses in this program
- Manage the collection, analysis and reporting of data related
to diversity in nursing students in WA State
- Develop, manage, and monitor the budget for this project
- Create regular reporting materials on the progress of the
project
- Collaborate with WCN Communications/Program Coordinator to
market this network
3) Consultation
- Bring recommendations to the WCN board and staff about
diversity in the nursing workforce based on the current thinking
and future expectations of the workforce composition
- Collaborate with nursing education programs in developing
support strategies for minority student
- Represent WCN to the public on diversity matters when
requested
- identify opportunities in K‐12 for increasing WCN's "reach" to
expose students to nursing careers
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree
Project management experience
Experience collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders in
major initiatives
Demonstrated experience and results with diversity efforts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience analyzing data
Proficiency in all common IT applications
Preferred:
Master's degree
Demonstrated experience leading diversity efforts
Demonstrated experience in nursing/ healthcare/ education
Experience designing, collecting, analyzing, and reporting/making
recommendations on data
Experience with fund development
Registered Nurse with a valid unencumbered WA State license
The Position
This is a one year, 50% FTE exempt position with the potential to
continue as funding is secured
Reporting Relationship:
This position reports directly to the Executive Director
Compensation and Benefits Per WCN Policies and
Procedures
